Electrify to Decarbonize [From the Editor]

Disseminating information on electrification to achieve decarbonization is in the mission statement of IEEE Electrification Magazine . technologies are important IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), Industrial Applications (IAS), and Electronics (PELS). The PES has a long history dating back late 19th century at forming American Institute Electrical Engineers, which later merged with Radio Engineers become IEEE. A retrospective article by Lindsey Ingram, “GE Westinghouse: Reflections Retired Electric Utility Engineer,” shows that GE Westinghouse played dominant role PES. IAS PELS Societies each distinct technology focus, electric machines power electronics.
